[img_assist|nid=1133|title=Baird|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=92]Total motorhome registrations fell 8 percent in December, with Class A registrations recording a 15 percent decline, according to analyst firm R.W. Baird. However, in a bit of good news, Class C registrations increased 7 percent.
According to Baird, Class A registrations for the month fell to 638 units, while Class C registrations rose to 380 units. For the full year 2009, Class A registrations fell 36 percent, to 11,000 units, while Class C registrations fell 32 percent, to 7,800 units.
Meanwhile, Baird reported that Class A diesel registrations fell 12 percent and Class A gas registrations fell 19 percent in December, as diesel units continue to outperform gas models. For the full year 2009, Class A diesel registrations fell 34 percent and Class A gas registrations fell 39 percent.
In a positive development, Baird sees dealers re-stocking sold units. “As dealers have become more comfortable with inventory levels, we are seeing shipments come into line with retail. We continue to expect more normal restocking rates to drive strong wholesale shipment growth,” the analyst firm reported.
